Raven's Club @ 207 S. Main St.

How did this culinary adventure for a lowbrow food begin? I was talking to my friend about how much I loved the fries at Raven's Club and really hyped them up for quite some time. So we made plans to sample the fries together at this restaurant with the idea that we'd continue to sample fries at other local eateries.

Our first outing was a success. We agreed that the beer battered and fennel dusted fries are a decadent treat that pair well with a refreshing and hand-crafted cocktail. Going to the Raven's Club for a drink and couple of appetizers is a great substitute for a full meal - and is just as satisfying. One trend to take note of is how fancy the french fry is becoming. Was it cruel to perviously

call this snack lowbrow?

Take a look at the fancy presentation of fries lately. The Raven's Club had a very similar setup. Many places also have this spiral or cone-shaped presentation. Perhaps the grease is not as noticeable in this position vs. the typical basket holder. And therefore we can temporarily forget that this is not exactly a health food. But it's certainly becoming more gourmet! If you want to add some professional flair to your next at-home meal, find one of these fry holders and add it to your stock of kitchen goods!

Even the condiments are getting upscale. We enjoyed a spiced ketchup and mustard aioli to accompany our fries. This is not the stuff you squeeze from a bottle at home!

Aside from fries, Raven's Club had friendly service and superb Raven's Club #2 cocktails: Vodka, St–Germain, Blackberry Puree, Fresh Lemon. We hope this newer establishment sticks around!
